Opportunities arise throughout the year for Electrical Engineers within AltaLink’s Project Engineering team. The successful candidates will work with internal & external technical staff to ensure that new substation, telecommunication and transmission line facilities are appropriately integrated into AltaLink’s high voltage transmission system. As such, these individuals will provide technical leadership at all critical project phases -- from planning through to implementation and final acceptance.
These positions will appeal to individuals who are looking for the opportunity to develop a broad range of technical and project skills associated with the high voltage transmission business.
Responsibilities
Develop project scoping documents that provide sufficient detail to allow accurate estimating and clear direction to an EPCM contractor.
Provide technical direction & answer questions of the EPCM contractors.
Review drawings & specifications to ensure each project meets acceptable standards for operability, functionality, maintainability, reliability, durability and safety.
Liaise with internal departments and customers to resolve technical and project issues.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications for this position are, as follows:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Qualifies for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA).
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, team members and contractors
Able to take a leadership role for setting standards and resolving technical issues.
Able to work both independently and as a member of a team, providing specialized technical advice and guidance to others.
Creative, innovative, and skilled at problem solving
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues on multiple projects simultaneously.
Preference will be given to individuals who posses Transmission utility technical experience.
