MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:
The employee in this classification installs electrical equipment and apparatus associated with transmission and distribution system facilities and buildings.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
· Inspect, construct, install and participate in the repair of electrical equipment and associated controls
· Arrange for appropriate permits, as authorized, in accordance with the Standard
protection Code
· Interpret and implement engineering plans, drawings, construction specifications and standards
· Participate in the design and field modification of apparatus and equipment
· Maintain drawings associated with the position
· Inspect, service and operate specialized equipment and tools
· Provide related services for internal and external groups
· Direct, coach, train, orient and monitor performance of assigned staff
· Requisition and maintain an adequate inventory of parts and supplies
· Compile and maintain records detailing installed equipment, problems encountered, resources used, repairs made and/or corrective action taken
· Adhere to applicable safety practices
· Adhere to applicable environmental standards, regulations and corporate commitments
· Participate in continuous educational and professional development, both internal and external and driver's licencing upgrades, as required by the position
· Utilize SaskPower's computer operating environment as required by the position
· Cooperate and deal tactfully with others
· Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
· Perform other related and assigned duties associated with this position
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrician Certificate
· Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence, as required
· Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
Candidates under consideration will be required to participate in an assessment process consisting of any/all of the following: interview, aptitude test, presentation or case study. Those who are requested to attend an interview will be requested to bring a copy of their transcripts.
