N Engineer Sr - Plant Engineering Electrical-1000223

Description

Electrical / Relay Systems Engineer. Responsible as a Plant System Engineer for advocating, developing and implementing performance monitoring plans, preventive maintenance strategies, and design improvement recommendations in support of long term equipment reliability for high voltage electrical systems. Specifically responsible for substation protection, control, and communications. System engineer for SF6 gas insulated bus system including breaker controls and power transformers. Independently performs complex engineering tasks that require knowledge and experience with nuclear power plant systems, industry standards and regulations. Provides input to the design process for digital control system retrofits. Responsible for providing troubleshooting team leadership for plant engineers and technicians. Works closely in a team environment with electrical subject matter expert counterparts. Responsible for developing and implementing complex testing plans for plant modification packages, including implementing software applications for digital control systems.

Position Requires: Effective communication and presentation skills to all levels of the organization required. Self starter, able to work independently with broad supervisory review. Demonstrates good judgment. Must be available to work overtime and be available to support refueling outages and emergent plan needs. Experience with advanced, high voltage substation protective relaying, carrier schemes, telecommunications, and SCADA. Preferred: Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for SF6 controls, Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) for equipment maintenance compliance, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for site compliance to transmission communications rules, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Qualifications

Bachelor's or associate's degree in electrical engineering or related science. Position may be filled as an Engineering Analyst depending on education. Minimum 5 years experience in systems and/or design, system engineering, operations, or maintenance. Able to assume responsibility for advanced engineering tasks requiring broad nuclear plant engineering experience and application of engineering principles, and power plant process systems.

Position assumes a special assignment during refueling outages and an emergency preparedness role. The position requires that within 6 to 12 months from hire date, the employee assumes an Emergency Response Team position. Accordingly, once the employee assumes the Emergency Response Team position, he/she is required to report for duty at the assigned emergency station within 50 minutes of the site's emergency activation.
