DUTIES: The successful candidate has:
Technical knowledge in both overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV and in the electrical, mechanical, civil and operating requirements of components used to build such systems
A broad range of distribution related skills including planning, system engineering, protection engineering, design, equipment expertise, and project management
Ability to investigate analyze and solve a variety of engineering problems, many of which are of a challenging and unusual nature
Able to provide effective and efficient team leadership, work management and technical direction to engineers and other technical support staff
Demonstrated ability to manage the successful delivery and implementation of projects to clients through superior project management skills, a superior customer service attitude, and strong communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships to ensure their needs are met and to work closely with stakeholders to drive innovation, find engineering solutions that add value, address competing interests at least life cycle cost, and to reach consensus
Excellent communication, project management, and computer skills
Well developed technical writing, analytical, interpersonal and presentation skills are necessary to succeed in this position
Proof of ongoing development such as self study, attendance at technical and leadership courses, and/or participation in technical and professional societies required.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have:
Completed an Engineering degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering
Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC
A minimum of ten years experience including engineering, project management and leadership.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Distribution Engineering has a challenging opportunity for a senior level Distribution Engineer and leader to join a team of professionals based at Glenlyon
This engineer will be part of the Distribution Standards team providing expertise in distribution equipment and applications
Work will include coordination of updates to standards manuals and specifications for new and existing equipment, and providing mentorship to a team of engineers
This position will represent BC Hydro on external committees and national standards bodies.
