JOB SUMMARY
Reports to a plant Supervisor and is responsible for assisting with and/or providing engineering support in the operations and maintenance of the power plant, including troubleshooting, "root cause" analysis and process improvement recommendations and initiatives. The incumbent is also responsible for providing the preparation of technical studies, preliminary designs, specifications, tender evaluations, equipment and construction drawings; and for providing contract management and project coordination.
KNOW-HOW
•Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Systems Engineering•Eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)•Post degree engineering work experience assisting with planning facilities, providing design, construction, operations, commissioning, contract management and project coordination in a support role.
•Applicants with experience in medium and high voltage electrical systems and/or boiler/turbine controls will be given preference.
ACCOUNTABILITY
•Provide direction external technical experts and SaskPower and/or contractor staff•Prepare technical studies, designs, specifiactions, tender evaluations, equipment and construction drawings.
•Preform technical and economic analysis of alternative solutions for project business cases and make recommendations for courses of action
•Prepare project plans, management contracts, monitor costs and schedules and initiate action as appropriate.
•Develop and implement criteria, guidelines, standards and new practices based upon engineering codes and practices
•Provide technical expertise, contract management, single or multiple project coordination and solutions to complex problems.
PROBLEM SOLVING
•Problems are resolved by gathering information, and identifying, defining and analyzing alternative courses of action based on policies, standards, diversified procedures and practices. Planning and/or implementing the appropriate solution in a broadly defined environment is based on experience and judgement.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Placement within salary range is dependent upon education, experience and professional designation.
